The Office is currently seeking Independent Visitors for metropolitan and regional prisons and juvenile detention centres.  

What are the application criteria?

There are no strict application criteria for Independent Visitors though applicants must be over the age of 18 years and proficiency in the use of email and Microsoft Word is essential. Visits take place between Monday and Friday.

How to apply

If you wish to be considered as an Independent Visitor please complete an Independent Visitor Scheme Application form and an Application for Volunteer National Police Check form, clearly indicating whether you prefer to apply as a visitor to a prison or a detention centre. All applicants should read the Code of Conduct before applying. It is important that brief information on your background and experience is also attached. (Only faxed or posted applications accepted.)
