The Western Australian Attorney General has proposed a Human Rights Act for the State and convened a consultation committee, chaired by Fred Chaney AO. The committee has consulted the community and will recommend to government how best to protect and promote human rights in this State.
The Office of the Inspector of Custodial Services has made a submission to the committee, with particular focus on issues relating to prisoners, juvenile detainees and other persons who are subject to some supervision or sanction as part of the criminal justice process.
